The One Where We Can All Be Graphic Designers
I always wanted to learn to be a "graphic designer". Not take it up as a career but just be able create fun, graphics on the Internet. I am a very creative person as well as pretty tech savvy. I thought I would be able to master Photoshop, Indesign, and Illustrator in no time, but boy was I wrong! As much as those programs are awesome and I have watched numerous YouTube video and tutorials, I think the Adobe products have a bit more to offer than I really need at this stage in my designing career. After getting frustrated with myself, I discovered a much more simple and user-friendly design platform online called Canva,
Canva is a graphic design platform that allows you to create almost anything from thousands of templates or from scratch both online and on their mobile application. Canva is easy to use and provides almost everything you need to create awesome designs. From images, fonts, illustrations and templates you can let your imagination soar, and not pull your hair out trying to master a graphic design platform for professionals.
Canva is great for business as it has templates for social media, brochures, business cards, menus, logos, websites and much more. It is also great for personal as you can create invitations, postcards, planners, agendas, and even your resume using one of the many templates available. It is also great for education as you can find lesson plan templates, create certificates for students, make schedules and worksheet and even use the pages you create to present as a slideshow in class! The options are truly endless on Canva.
As a marketing teacher, I have my students create menus, logos, brochures, flyers, etc and its always so much fun to see what they can create. Canva has a very user-friendly interface with familiar icons that make it easy for students to use. It also has sharing capabilities so multiple people can be working on one document, making it great for group projects.
Ever since discovering Canva, I have opened the door to become even more creative than I had ever imagined. If you aren't already familiar, I recommend checking it out! No experience necessary to become a "graphic designer" for almost anything!!
I love Canva! I discovered it last semester in my Technology and Design class when I used it to make an infographic. It has so many options for designing different things like business cards, brochures, logos, and more. I've used it since then to make some other graphics and still love how easy it is to use.
ReplyDeleteOh great! I hope I get to take that class next semester!!!
